About

Perch is rooted in a simple idea: creativity belongs to everyone.

For a long time, I struggled to call myself an artist. I believed creativity was reserved for those with rare talent or formal training. What I’ve come to understand instead is that creativity is part of being human—it’s how we solve problems, tell stories, connect with one another, and make meaning of our lives.

I was born in Texas and raised in a family of makers, entrepreneurs, and problem-solvers. My childhood was filled with projects, small businesses, gardens, and a shared belief that if you were willing to try, you could figure almost anything out. Creating wasn’t something we planned—it was simply how we lived.

Later, as the wife of my high school sweetheart, James, and a mother raising three children while moving across the country through military life, I learned how to build community wherever I landed. Through seasons of change, creativity became an anchor—a way to stay connected to myself and to others.

Those experiences led me to found Perch in 2009.

What began as a jewelry studio has always been something more—a place to gather. A place where curiosity is welcomed, where beginners and experienced makers sit side by side, and where creativity becomes a bridge between people. As Perch begins a new chapter this year, that purpose remains unchanged.

One of the greatest gifts of this work has been learning alongside others. Seeing the creative process through fresh eyes shifts perspective—new ideas emerge, assumptions fall away, and creativity becomes something shared rather than solitary. That exchange of ideas, encouragement, and inspiration is at the heart of Perch.

While jewelry is the medium, the work has always been about something deeper. I care about creating spaces where people feel comfortable trying something new, trusting their instincts, and discovering what they’re capable of making with their own hands. My role is simply to offer the tools, guidance, and encouragement—to help people step into more of themselves through the act of creating.

I believe creativity softens a busy world. It helps us see ourselves more clearly and appreciate the individuality of others. It reminds us that making isn’t about perfection—it’s about exploration, connection, and joy.

Whether you’re creating your first piece, gathering with friends, learning a new skill, or simply looking for inspiration, you’re welcome here.

Perch is a place to gather, create, and discover a little more of yourself along the way.
